Almost great kilted day
Today I had planned on being kilted, and to take my son to the post office to pick up his mail, which is a swk kids Irish tartan kilt, and a sporran. Got to the post office, and no package. (Jerry? Is the time portal broken? Based on shipping date, it should have been here. To a PO box no less.) No mail, which kinda skewed my day. On the nice side, my son did decide to be kilted today, which is nice for him being 4 and being used to wearing a kilt, aside from he needs to learn to 'preserve the mystery' and how to use the bathroom / replace his kilt when it comes open. But still....
We headed out to Ikea by surprise, since my mother in law wanted to go. On the way down, I realized that I have never worn pants in Ikea, and my son has been kilted there 2 out of 3 times. Sadly, halfway through the store, I saw a problem with his kilt. The kilt pin was gone. It was a Picachu pokemon pin and somewhere in the store it must have snagged and broke off. He was sad, but thought it was in the car. He will realize in a few days his favorite (and only) kilt pin is gone, and can't be replaced easily. He carried on like a real trooper though.
We got home, and got everything in the house, and my mom pulls up. (She really hates kilts) Anyways, even though she sees me and my son in kilts, she invites us out for dinner, and she even behaved the entire time. We got to watch Mich St win, which was nice since I graduated from Eastern Mich, the other green and white Mich school, and my wife was still miffed that Ucon had beat Xavier. We got home, and flipping channels my son got to see a few moments of Braveheart, all he really saw or understood was there were a lot of guys walking about in kilts.
Aside from USPS being slow and my son's kilt pin (one I used to wear on my vest at Walgreens.) it was an overall great day. Too bad they predict ungodly wind and snow for Monday.

Or, if he's anything like my kids, he forgot about the Picachu pin as soon as he was distracted by something shiny.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

The life of a young Kilt wearer can be pretty traumatic.
Or an old one for that matter.

I'm sure that he'll find a new favorite kilt pin in short order.

Sounds like a great day... Wish I could get my son to wear a kilt.

I'm glad that my Mother doesn't mind me in a kilt.
