traditional hand-tied garters?
Greetings,
Anyone know a source for traditional hand-tied garters OTHER than the Scottish Tartan Museum? Theirs are too short.
Thanks,
Richard

They also have longer ones for the big boys I had thought. The regular ones are 36 inch and the extra long ones are 44 inches.

I buy the long ones. Matt keeps a small stock of these on hand and if he does not have the color in stock, he will order for you.

The Tartan Museum does sell "extra long" garter ties that are 44" as well as the standard ones that are 36"
If that's still not long enough, take a look at this thread:

The hose ties on this thread are customizable and I would imagine you could have them made in any length.

no size choice...
In my experience, they only offer one size, and you won't know how long they are 'til they arrive. I had to send back a too-short 34-inch set, and they replaced them with a 28-inch pair that will not go around my legs!

You might take a look at your local fabric store. They often have woven "tape" of different fabrics and weight that is used to re-enforce seams, and that work quite well as garter ties. You can buy them in any length you want. And for a dollar or so per yard.
You may have to sew the end if you want to fray it, (or hem it, of course)but some are so tightly woven that that isn't really necessary.

Ouch! I have 4 pairs, and one was just a tad shorter than the rest; but all close to 36 inches.
KM, you can make your own with a little device called a spool knitter and a ball of yarn. Here's one.
Some members will custom knit them for you:

I can knit you some of them, which would be like the "Snake Garters" that Puffer posted about a couple of months ago. They could be any length you wanted, any color, and would stretch to about 1 1/2 times their original length. PM me if you're interested.

When given a choice, most people will choose.

Not true. I've purchased the 44" length myself, just recently. They are on the site, below the others. They do not have as wide a range of colors, however.
