Getting ready to start my 1st, need clarification
Okay, I've been reading the X-Kilt manual for the last couple hours and I have a question that needs clarification. I see the diagram of the cross-section of the box pleats. That diagram indicates 5" of fabric for the inner portion of the pleat (1.25 x 4 = 5.0). However, everywhere else in the manual, it references 5.25" as the inner portion of the pleat. Is this a known discrepancy, arithmetic error, or am I missing something fundamental?
Any clarification would be helpful. Curse my perfectionism!

when I set mine up, I measured 5.25" for the inner pleat. Then sew down the pleats. Now if you go back and measure that inner pleat, its going to be more like 5", between the stitches. You loose .25" when you sew the pleats.
The outer pleats, because they are pressed will still measure 3" edge to edge, outside the stitch.
If your still not sure grab a 10" scrap of fabric and try a couple of practice pleats.... you'll see how it goes.

Thanks. That's kinda what I suspected, but wasn't sure.

It's because the inner pleat folds don't meet in the middle of the inside of the box pleat. there's a gap, so that up in the waistband you won't have quite so much overlap to sew through.
