X kilt under pleat need advice.

I'm working on my first x-kilt and I need some advice from those that have gone before. How wide is the under appron pleat. The instructions (2nd ed) show a 12 inch Under Apron Pleat (the BIG pleat) with a 10 inch Over Apron in the appendix 1. I have a 15.5 apron. Do I still use the 12 inch pleat or do I need a 17.5 inch. My confusion is that 12 is 2 over the 10 inch over apron in the diagram. Using a 15.5 inch over apron would make that 17.5 but that sound wrong. The under apron pleat seems to be the only measurement I can not find explained.
    Thank you,

The easy answer to this is pretty simple....make it big. BIG.

Whether it's 12 inches, 13 inches, 14 inches or whatever isn't terribly important. Just don't make it 4-5 inches. 12 is fine, so that when it's folded over, it's 6 inches deep..

If it is any help the kilt I am wearing today has about 15 inches of fabric in each under apron pleat - that way the aprons fall vertically when I sit, are not pulled apart when I climb over obstacles and so maintain modesty - if plump soon to be grandmothers can be considered modest when vaulting gates and the like.

At least it gives me an even chance.

I'm almost finished with this ant it is not to bad. I'll admit that at times I was reading the x kilt adn sewing machine instructiosn at the same time. I went with 12 inch under pleat and on a 15 inch Over Apron. the under apron is going to be about 19. Velco, waist band are all that is left. I created some SID's (Self Inflected Diffulcults). I"m explan those when I finish the kilt and may post a photo. It was wearble last night and I've not heard my wife laught like that in a while. ith:

Yes post pictures. Everything will make more sense on kilt #2, but the first one you will always remember. I just finished x-kilt #6, and my sweet wife would just like me to finish the kitchen remodel project ..... sometime this year.

I agree - I'm betting that she laughed because she doubted you and now she feels silly that she did ... Pictures!
