Gunn Tartan - which tweed to go for?

I'd love to get a plain jacket for day wear, but can't decide on the best colour to go with my Gunn tartan. Any ideas/examples would be much appreciated.

    All the best
    Graham.

I wore a bottle green jacket with my Gunn. Sadly, both garments shrunk from being stored in my closet.

My tartan is not dis-similar to the Gunn tartan and these days I wear a darkish green tweed. If you go to JS's threads you will find a picture of it in,I think, my third or fourth thread. I also used to wear a russet brown tweed argyll and I think it set off the kilt really well, sadly I wore that out!

With the all the dark colors in the tartan, I would say you prob find a dark brown wool jacket that would fit well with it. You can see an example in Panache's #4 of 10 looks here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/1...888/index.html

I'm so color blind ...I would have no idea but bottle green seems like a good choice.

My only suggestion is a general one that was my mom's mantra years ago. If it doesn't match exactly, it's better to have a contrasting color. Nothing worse than two greens that are close but not quite matching.

Depends on which version, I have a weathered Gunn which has more browns and muted tones, I just purchased a brown tweed jacket, not an Argyl but a standard Harris Tweed and it look s great even though it's not a cut away.

Thanks for the kilt by the way Barb I love it and so does everyone who sees it.

    Cheers,
    Ken
