Where to get Acrylic?

My wife made me a digital (marpat copy) camo modified x-kilt. It is my first kilt, and I'm lovin' it. So is she.

My wife is a very good seamstress, and she's certain she is ready for a tartan. We've not been able to find suitable fabric. We're looking for acrylic, but can't find it locally or online.

Is there some other inexpensive fabric that would be suitable?

I would suggest 12oz Poly/Rayon Tartan fabric from Marton Mills.

You can buy direct if you are willing to make a phone call to the UK and give out your credit card.

Or, Rocky at USA Kilts, Pete Hummel and Canadian Casual Kilts or myself will be happy to sell you fabric. Our retail mark-up is not that great. I retail these Tartans for $24.00cdn per yard, double width.

The Scottish Weaver (http://www.thescottishweaver.com) sometimes sells tartan acrylic blends.

Use the polyester/rayon stuff, it's better.

I knew there would be an experienced, educated response to this lads question before I stared down the page, and low and behold there were several.

I second the recommendations above. Acrylic makes a dandy kilt, but the poly/rayon (also called poly viscose) is far superior material, and well worth the extra $.
