I hang mine currently but Mr. MacDonald's way seems to make a good bit of sense as well. Now all I need is another set of dressers with some cedar drawers.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Contrary to some sentiments I have seen I think it is possible to have too many kilts. I think that the best place for one's kilt is on one's hips. Wear it often. I do not have a problem with kilt storage because I principally have one and wear it often. Maybe Barb Tewksbury should be consulted on this. Seems like a vacuum bag could hold the pleats in place? That could then hang or be laid flat in a drawer.

I'm curious to hear from some of our expert kiltmakers on this subject. I currently hang mine, but I'm reworking our master closet this summer (need to build a whole new wing for kilts and kit ) and I'd love to know which approach is truly best.

Sound Idea if your bother by moths in ya home! I hang mine with cedar blocks in me closet.
I don't believe the idea is to arrive in heaven in a well preserved body! But to slide in side ways,Kilt A' Fly'n! Scream'en "Mon Wha A Ride" Kilted Santas

the advice is also supposed to reduce the 'splaying' of the pleats.

The advice is from a kiltmaker.
Which approach is best will come down to preference, probably.

That looks like a GOOD idea, For storing the KILTS that you do not wear regularly, Or the storing "heavier" ones over the summer mo.

I currently hang my kilt using the Wizard's two hanger method (my great kilt is folded and hung on a wooden hanger.) When I travel I roll the kilt and use one of my wife's stockings to keep it tightly rolled.
