Last weekend was the 24th annual Glasgow games in Kentucky. The weather was nice. It was a little on the warm side, but tolerable. The crowds were noticeably down from previous years. And even the vendors were reduced. There not a single vendor that I saw that was selling tartan or clan badge items. There were even some empty spaces in the clan tent rows. I was able to meet Hector and Sandy, but not all together.

This is a picture of Sandy getting ready to march with the reviewing party. Hector is actually in the shot. He has the beard, shades in the Leatherneck kilt.

Next is Sandy and myself in front of the Barclay tent.

We were set up right across from the vendor row. This is the Caberdancer/ MacBubba booth.

Next is a shot of the Drum Major for the games. He's a friend and I think he always looks sharp in his parade kit.

The athletic events were taking place right behind us. THis is a shot of Pro Larry Brock in the Heavy Weight for Distance. Notice how at one point both of his feet are off the ground.

While talking, Sandy mentioned seeing someone wearing a pair of curved blades on their back and how really odd it looked. Not sure if they bought them there, or if they thought the Highland Games were an appropriate place to "wear" them.

I had a good time. Got to see a lot of the athletic events due to our location, but no new Barclays stopped by. I hope things pick back up for them next year. These really are a good games for the region. People come from all over the eastern US to attend. Make plans for next year if you couldn't make it this year. Next year will be there 25th anniversary, so they plan to go all out.
