ok to wear fire dept badge on kilt?
Hello all
I have joined the county hazmat and am in process of becoming a member of the closest fire dept. Is it ok to wear the official badge as a kilt pin or use to pin a flyplaid?

If it's the right size/shape and you post pictures of you wearing it while standing next to attractive women, it should be alright.

george7 explained it exactly. We're pretty leniant on the "right size/shape" part, but the latter is not negotiable!

I would be curious if the department has some regulation on the proper way to wear a badge.

If you do wear the badge as a kilt pin, make sure the latch is secure. Also, the badge might be a little heavy, but I like the idea of displaying it.
Thanks for performing a dangerous and necessary duty, by the way.

I wear my Grandfather's retirement badge as a kilt pin. I emailed the president of the DC police emerald society for permission and he thouhgt it was a great idea. Do make sure the latch is tight, though. Best of luck.

If you're afraid of losing your badge due to some mishap, you could wear your fire department rank (horns) instead as a kilt pin.

One of the local rabble here in NYC is a member of the NYPD. He has posted a photo of the city shield used as a cap badge which he has converted into a kilt pin.

I agreed with PiobBear, I have used my smaller (2 1'4") chaplain's badge on my rifle-green glengarry - it looks really great!!
