    Wall Mart Weird...

So- Wal Mart- usually not a good experience kilted, right? Yesterday on the way home from a camping trip, my wife and I decided to stop in at Wal Mart to replenish a few supplies. She went to get the bathroom stuff, and I went for the necessity- the new frisbee. I went to check out, and the girl at the counter looked at me wide eyed, and I thought "Ah, here we go- need to explain that it's not a skirt." Instead she said "I have to say- I love the kilt!" Taken by surprise, I stammered as polite a thank you as I could. I went to sit on the bench that was close to the register to wait for the lovely Mrs Nighthawk to get there to meet me, and that same girl must have left her register three or four times to talk to me! And on top of that, several customers who had their attention drawn by her attention had to come ask me about it. (I was wearing a solid black Amerikilt.) It was very unusual the amount of positive attention. Usually it's an odd comment here, one there, but this time, it was several people aside from the cash register girl. So to cap the whole thing off for the young lady who was so taken, when I saw my wife coming to the checkout lane, I had to direct her to that girls line. My prettier half was wearing her "Kilt Inspector- Spread 'Em, Lad!" t shirt, which peals of hysterical laughter from my cash register lady friend. All this happened in the space of about 10 minutes, like a weeks worth of interested in one concentrated dose.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming... Mung Dahl wears kilts:

I usually get a positive comment or two when I wear my kilt to WalMart.

Make sure that you tell Mrs. Hawk that she's way better looking than the check out lady.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
