Is Music not enough? (rant)
Just watching the Glastonbury highlights on the BBC. Some great acts showcased but one thing that occurs to me. Why do singists like Lilly Allen and Lady GaGa, insist on parading round with there chesticles provocatively displayed or (I love this unword) worserer, in their undercrackers. Is their undoubtable musical talent insufficient to attract a discerning audience. I may have been on a higher plain at the time but it wasn't like this in 1979 when I was watching Zeppelin at Knebworth. (Crikey... I sound like my Dad!)
Aug 04 gig, rabbit rabbit...Chas and Dave kept their kit on! Thankfully!!

Scary isn't it, how we start to sound like our parents; those kids and their darn rap, why do they have to crank it so loud it rattles the windows. And....how loud did we play LZ????
Best to only notice the musical talent, for if you noitice the eager display of thier physical endowment you become a masoginist!

I can only comment on the one performance of Lady GaGa that I have seen. There was so little music present that she had to have something else to make a show out of, so she resorted to flesh. Show biz says if you can't win an audience with the voice (Ella Fitzgerald, Patsy Cline, Odetta), then you win them with skin.
I think a lot of performers are like my 9th graders: they think that they are the first ones in the history of the world to have what their mamas gave them, and by Jenny, they're going to show them off!
Oh, to bring back Ella...

I have decided that Lady GaGa is a contemporary Divine Miss M. Bette Middler began her career as a bit of burlesque act, working the clubs (and bathhouses, actually) with unparalleled energy. Though I don't care a whit for the Lady GaGa's music, I noticed that she does have talent beneath all that schtick, to say nothing of the ambition of Madonna.
Whether she goes as far as either of them remains to be seen.
Regards,
Rex, who has no idea who Lilly Allen is.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Oh, to bring back Ella...
I'm afraid the molds have been broken. How fortunate we are to have the recordings.

Rex.
