I am shedding tears, preparing to say goodbye, practicing non-attachement
Something I usually do not do- have a catharsis is public, but I know that some here will understand.
Long story short- I am putting a long and trusted friend up for sale, and growing ever more morose as I try to pull it all together.

The longer part of the story is this- I am the vehicle manager and chief mechanic for my family of 4 soon to be 5 drivers. Due to recent car failures to the point of- let's not sink any more money into this, we have shifted cars around between Phoenix and Tucson (where my two U students live) and have purchased two new vehicles (my wife and I) using some cars for trade- ins- especially one I had promised my soon-to-be 16 year old that he would drive. So I am converting one more asset from two wheels into four and my eyes are leaking.
I know this will turn around someday, and then my youngest will be ready to drive.
Meanwhile, thanks for the shoulder.

Major Bummer, man - what a beauty! I live in Harley country but you just can't beat a Beemer for class and quality.

I feel for you. It was a heart-wrenching day when I got rid of my trusted bike of 9 years, never to be replaced.

You have my condolences! That's a beautiful bike!
I went through withdrawal several years ago -- but my bike did not compare to your Beemer.

Sorry about that, as for me, I'm in desperate need of a new motorcycle. I'm sure things will turn around at some point in future. Rest easy in the knowledge that your sacrifice is the right thing to do.

I would normally say "condolences for your loss" but I think in this situation "condolences for your sacrifice" might be a better choice.

Thanks for the sentiments, guys. Much appreciated. Grant, I can't believe I touched a heart-string. Rare moment on Xmarks.

Believe me I'm crying so much I keep shorting my keyboard. I've gotta stop counting all the kiltcheck* I've gotten over the years.

Tell the family it was stolen and put it in storage. They will never know.
