Victum of our times!
As everyone knows I'm at Grand Father Mountain for the games. Friday after enjoying the games and meeting up with Matt and all the other XMarkers that gathered there, taking a full days pictures and having a grand time. I headed
back towards my parked vehicle on one of the provided shuttle buses, making a fatal error of leaving my camera on the seat next to me.
At first it was no problem the young driver turned it into to the lost and found operated by the local fire dept. Saturday we started the search for the camera
and to everyone's suprise no one could find it. The search went on all day, the driver was questioned and so was the person who checked it in, but still no camera, come Saturday afternoon still no camera. By now I'm getting a little up set but keeping my cool, all my Friday pictures are now gone along with a $600.00 Sony Digital camera.
Finally I have a meeting with the Fire Chief who is in control of all the transportation people and he agrees that they are responsible for the camera,
his people having had the last possession of it and they finally agree to pay for it.according to Mr. Jack Wiseman,Chief of Crossnore County Fire Dept.
they will verify the cost of the camera and forward me a check for that amount. I ask him why didn't he just track down who removed it from where they had kept such items, and his responce was that there had been to many people granted access to the area to be able to find out just who would of done such a thing.

I won't comment on the "cover up" aspect of your tale but I will commend the Fire Chief for compensating you. It would have been so easy to just say "Sorry. You should have been more careful." Also sorry for the loss of your pics.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your camera, I do not know what I'd do if the same thing happened to my Nikon, at least they will send out the cheque.

I wonder if someone could have just wandered up and said, "hey I lost a camera, did you guys find one?" They produce yours, it being the only one, "Hey, thanks so much, that's it. Now your camera is their camera! So sorry man!
Must say though, while you were photo documenting ole wrong way, Matt did get some fairly tasty pics....purely for research and example puroses though!
At least they accepted responsibility for it, most places won't even do that.
Not insured was it? Homeowners, know what I mean!!!!

Sign of the times...Most places, even social events and gatherings, have a "We are not responsible for lost or stolen items." Amazing that they offered to replace. Best of luck!

Although a camera can be replaced the the photos in it cannot.
