German Highland Games July 11-12
After being in the USA for 3 weeks, I had one week to recover from Jet Lag and then my Wife and I headed for the German Highland Games in Angelbachtal, near Sinsheim, just east of Heidelberg.
The venue is on the grounds of a country manor home, surrounded by a moat. Many large trees and open fields. Weather was spotty, not too hot, but sort of cloudy and breezy on Saturday, showers on Sunday.
Here are some pics.
The manor house

The stage with drink and food booths lining the sides. Eating and drinking are major activities at a German Fest.

The Heidelberg pipe and drum band. They were the host band, but there were about 6 others also. This was part of the Bagpipe Association of Germany's summer competition tour.

One of about 6 sport clubs that competed in the Game events. Events were for men and women both.

There was a Haggis Stand there!

Here is a sample from the Haggis stand. It doesn't compare with that served at Ferintosh Guest House in Dumfries served by our own Pour1malt, but it was not bad. Also served were potato wedges and creamed turnips (tatties and neeps). The bun above the haggis was fresh baked whole wheat, filled with ham and cheese, topped with sour cream. Absolutely delicious! and very filling.

I'll post a few more pics under another thread.

Great photos, thanks. I think you might need to visit your kiltmaker if you keep eating that kind of food.
