Short Hose (socks, not the other thing)
The 2 pair of hose that i bought from SK came today, and much to my disappointment, they are too small. they fit my feet fine, but when pulled up, without rolling the tops down, they reach just below my knee. i can't wear my flashes with them, but is it okay to wear hose that aren't rolled when you're wearing your kilt casually?
from what i've read so far, everybody's real cool about 'wear what works for you as long as you're wearing a kilt' - which is great, and i love the support here, but i don't want to end up in some 'what not to wear' thread in the future.
thanks all,
Andy

If you are wearing boots with your kilt, just push the tops down. If you wear shoes, they should be OK pulled up but I would be looking for some real kilt hose. They will probably cost a bit more than the ones you got but they are worth it.

If you mean SportKilt by SK they're basically soccer sox. SportKilt carries a wider variety of colors than your local sporting goods store. Most soccer sox aren't long enough to turn down over flashes...just wear them regular pulled up or scrunched down...but no flashes or garter ties.

IMHO they can go a few fingers lower than "just below my knee" and still be ok.

Hi Andy and Welcome to XMarks from the other side of the Atlantic in Norfolk, England.
The no.2 poster - Big Mikey - is too modest (and forum rules don't allow him to advertise), but he makes great Hose Toppers. Go to his profile and then to his gallery to see what I am talking about. Give him a PM - you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.
I have one pair, that I am very pleased with, and will be wanting at least one more before the end of the year.
Regards
Chas

I'll echo the comments about Big Mikey's hose toppers. Here's a post I started when I found my hose were too short: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...light=solution

I like the thread name, made me spit coffee on the keyboard. I am a newbie, but I have been wearing athletic sox pushed down with casual kilts. Ibought one pair of cream hose with a thistle on the top and when cuffed, only about three inches of leg show. Makes me look shorter in IMHO, and I need no help there at 5'-9".
However, when in doubt I refer to the sticky http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/1...888/index.html

thanks
chas & beedee - thanks for the nod to big mikey, i'm sending him a PM right after this.
chubrock, i hope that your keyboard is okay.
i was also wondering if there was somewhere that sizes their hose by length instead of just shoe size, as i'm sure people with similar feet have longer/shorter legs than each other. it's just a pain wasting time and money on something that doesn't fit. one would think that somewhere close to new york city would have something in the way of kilt wear, but i haven't found one yet. if anyone has any suggestions, they are more than welcome.
take it easy,
Andy

You find that getting kilt hose from most vendors will get you the hose that fold over. SportKilt, to it's credit deal with the atheletes, mainly, and they wear a more athelic
sock.
Look at the various vendors on the forum, USAKilts, Scottish Tartan Museum (Matt Newsome) Keltoi Gaelic Clothing, Freedom Kilts, and all the advertisers.. You will find a multitude of styles and colors.

Hey, Andy from a neighbor! Glad to have you on here, and I see that you've already learned what a great resource this site can be.
If you are interested in joining in a kilt meet, let me know, the NY Metro rabble has been scattered a bit of late, but there are still those who will come out for an event. Last year we were even able to do our own Burns Dinner.
