We like to keep them. How else can a nation of 4 million compete with the rest of the world?

I hope that scenes like this open the eyes of some, even on this forum, who would not accept the late Mr. Wilson's sense of identity.

We are tribal. In the British Army, the Scottish Orders of Dress are called "tribal dress". The Maori are tribal. It is very right and fitting that John Mahiti Wilson should be welcomed home by his clan as a man of two tribes. Let's offer karakia [prayer] on his behalf, and celebrate the inclusiveness shown his family. Cheers!
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

Buga, just posted the same in off topics...
Beedee, can you delete that for me as a dup post?
Also, that cat's Ta Moko, is awesome, something I am seeing more regularly here nowadays, I kind of like it.

Maoris are all about Hapu, and belonging to the Family (tribe) and the land from whence they sprang (see - tangata whenua) something they are very proud of, and it is great.
And there are so many tribes, almost similar to the how many clans there are / were...
Identifying them nowadays and their family / tribal areas is a fairly easy exercise, as most of the younger generations, proudly display their loyalities with large stickers on cars, bags, tattoos and any other way they can. (sounds familiar huh?)

If only we could trade something to get their Rubgy players.
7 or 8 of Japans starting 15 are now Kiwis...
Alot are going off shore and getting well paid for it.
So, if the USA gets there A into G, and have a decent competition (only guessing, know nothing of it) and have some spare cash, you could pick up yourself some second hand, recently thrown on the beach / un wanted all blacks, with minor niggles and injuries....
Also, you need to get some of those yarpie players (flippin huge and mobile at the moment)...Watch for South Africa to be the dominant football team for the next 4 or 5 years...
