Enumclaw Games, featuring James G
This past weekend was the North American Championships at Enumclaw, Washington. Attendance in the Masters was a bit down, due to the fact that the World Championships were just a few days before, in Scotland. However, the Pacific Northwest was well represented in the A's by James Gorley and John Odden. In the B's, I dragged my friend Jon Thorn up from California, who promptly won the event overall, setting four PR's in the process. I placed third in the Masters 50+ with a rather inconsistent performance, which nonetheless saw me setting personal records in the sheaf (2 foot improvement, and this is with a 20 lb sheaf, not a 16!) , the heavy weight for distance (by one inch!) and I OBLITERATED my light weight for distance PR by over 4 feet.... 44 feet 8 inches.
And...it was HOT! (about 95 on the field on Sunday)
Anyway, on to the pictures!

The close up shows you some of the technique....now, here's a little bit of perspective about how James makes that thing fly! That's got to be 24 feet! I topped out at 19!

James has freaking NICE hammer form...
Concentration
For a hammer enthusiast, this is a beautiful picture. Knees bent, HUGE layout in the back, a quick catch as James passes through the back. SWEET.
I'm freakin' jealous! I want to look like that!

Here's my friend Jon Thorn on his way to winning the B's. I didn't get very many decent caber shots, the lighting was horrible, and it just didn't work out very well, but the setup for getting good WOB pics was *great*
Jon blows the weight over the bar at 12
...has to work a little harder for 13, but gets it!

Just in case you think ALL I did was watch braw lads sweat...well, here's proof that I did something else as well...
This lass caught my eye...I wonder why? My excuse for this assault on the poor girl is that I'll put her picture in the "lasses wear" thread! (I got her permission first, of course)
This couple was too handsome to NOT ask to take a picture. They're nice people and I think they look absolutely classy in the first degree...and I told them so.
