Because there's a lack of fake dandelions around, I decided to make one.
I used the buttercups and the leaves and fuzzy center of some orange daisies from a fake bouquet that for some reason has been sitting in our basement for years.
As you can see, the buttercups have natural bumps where I was able to cut along to create long skinny petals. I cut up two flowers and combined them to fluff it out a bit, then crumpled and rolled my creation around in my hands to give it a more dandelionish appearance then added the leaves. The leaves aren't quite right, but look pretty close IMO. I'll be wearing this or have it on my daughter's stroller at the Jackson Hole games this weekend.
My method could in theory work with yellow daisies with the petals cut in half or smaller.
And can you believe it? There are usually copious amounts of HUGE dandelions all around our house and in our pasture but today I couldn't find one to save my life. So I apologize for not having a comparison shot.
