Virginia Scottish Games 2009
Yesterday, I attended the 36th Annual Virginia Scottish Games and Festival. The Games have moved again, to the Great Meadows near the Plains. There is more space than Sky Meadows where the Games were held the last two year.
My first course of business when I come to the Games is to acquire my wife a stuffed lamb. Our friends at the Scottish Trading Company (STC) provided me with the required lamb, so I was now free to go about my day!
The first XMarker I met as leaving the STC was DrillAgent and his lovely daughter. RebelScot joined us for the photo.
I am wearing my new ‘thin’ cotton hose from Jas Townsend & Son. In ordering them I struggled with getting a pair of the ‘red’ color hose. Not sure what I would wear them with, but acting on the impulse I got a pair with the others I ordered.
I soon would obtain “Off the Rack” from USA Kilts this casual in Thomson Grey and now had my reason in getting the ‘red’ hose! STC had a cotton Scottish hose which I bought a pair. I will review the cotton hose later.

Virginia Scottish Games 2009 – Clan Visitation
I dropped by the Elliot Clan tent and meet up with Sir William and his charming daughter. Congratulations Bill, on the new clan members you signed up!
The Donnachaidhs were active in signing up new members, too.
Not really a clan but a favorite tent to visit. Thanks, Bart for allowing me to man the sample table. I got to drink my mistakes. I’m all thumbs!

Virginia Scottish Games 2009 – Meet Up
SCV40BT and I meet at the Entertainment Tent for the Meet Up. We were joined by John’s boys who really enjoyed themselves at the Games. Reno where were you?
The Williamsburg band, Coyote Run entertained us.
The laddies enjoyed the band’s performance, uh Katherine’s performance. It starts early, doesn’t it.
From the Entertainment Tent the view was outstanding.

Virginia Scottish Games 2009 – Fiddler’s Tent
This group, Devil’s Tailors were outstanding in their performances of traditional Scottish music. I’ll be looking for them in the future.
While there I ran into my Scottish piper friend George and a friend of his with the City of Washington Pipe Band.

Virginia Scottish Games 2009 – Evening Concert
With John (SCV40BT) and Bill (Sir William) we ended the day listening to Alex Beaton singing Caledonia.
The Glengarry Boys ended the concert with an outstanding spirited performance.
It was a grand day! I love fall in Virginia!
