    Younger "kilters" wearing tweed

    EDIT-

Got a tweed and I now love it!

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I'm well out of the age group you are asking about, but I didn't know there was a age limit on wearing tweed! I wore tweed sportscoats (pre kilt) in my 20s.

As to the hose question, agree the black ones are not really working. I think with the outfit in the picture I would go with a green to match the kilt for daywear, and something to match the jacket for evening.

There is no age requirement for a tweed jacket that I know of and I am ancient. Your Campbell tartan begs for bottle green hose, or a blue hose.

I agree with the others about "no age limit" on tweed that I'm aware of....

Now, on the hose: I agree that the black hose does not cut it with the tweed. With Ancient kilt colors you should go with either Lovat Blue or Lovat Green. Did you say the tweed is grey?
Try the Lewis Hose on the Scottish Tartan Museum Gift Shop. You might be able to match the hose to your tweed.

    Paul,

I failed to notice your location. You can probably find Lewis Hose in your own region -- however the link I sent has good examples of the colors available.

As per your question, I always match my hose to the kilt/tartan colors being worn. However I wear a lot of black, so jacket color is not such a big deal, though if I were wearing tweed it might become a consideration as well.

    Hope this all helps

Well done laddie! Very smart. There is a time and a place for the Tshirt and boots and there is a time and a place for tweed and you are showing,if I may say so, great maturity of dress sense by recognizing that fact.It does not matter one jot what age you are, you wear what is appropriate for the occasion. Don't worry too much about matching your hose to anything. Bottle green,Lovat green, maroon would, for me, be a much better bet than black. I think I might loose the tie and have a more traditional one. Why? It is the wrong style of tie for the jacket.A small thing I know, but it will make a difference. Have fun!.

    Very smart

I too am well out of the age range but I agree with the comments above.

You look great but the hose should be green or blue.

You might even wish to try this look, as modeled by the Duke of Argyll (red hose w/ red garters)

you look very smart. I realy like tweed jackets and they are on my wishlist. I agree with the rest that you should try some other color on the hoses.

    Tweed

Well done, Paul, that is a very good outfit. If you are happy with it, dont change it. However, for my personal taste I would wear a more "ordinary" type of tie but you could find a tie with some colour.
