    Thumbs up From a Kilt Broach/Pin!

    Can anyone here on XMarks translate this for me? I found this on a Lion Rampant Kilt Pin. "DIA AGUS AR DUIHALCH.I appreciate any help at all.

    "Dia agus" means "God and". The next bit is a guess. That L is more likely to be an I and that first I is probably a T to make it "ar dùthaich" which is the Scottish Gaelic version of the Irish "ár dúiche", both meaning "our native land, our homeland". I hope they haven't missed the fada (accent) over the U because if they have, you can see from that page it has an unfortunately different meaning!

    To my mind the whole phrase probably means "(For) God and our native land"

    Thanks for the responce! I will go back and check the spelling again where I saw it to be sure I copied it down. I have a bid on the broach/pin. And I would like to know what it says. Get back later with the spelling corrected or as it is.
