Tam o'Shanter badge ideas?
Hey guys and Lasses,
I just this morning recieved a fantastic Khaki tam (among other things) from John (slohairt) at Keltoi Gaelic Clothing and after shooting of an email in thanks I got to thinking about how to wear it. My initial idea was to wear it like a beret but after looking through here and google ive decided to try shaping it slanting slightly forward and to the right, as seems to be the favoured idea. Now im wondering what to do in the way of a badge wether its a cap badge or anything else anyone here sugests. Or maybe jus leave it as is?
I have a clan cap badge and ive just emailed our newest almighty leader about an XMTS one. But since i am wanting to wear this as daily wear with all of my different kilts (present and future ) and possibaly without them if i can pull it off, Im not too keen on sewing a tartan on to it and im not wanting to look costumey sp?
I will post pics of me with it on and the Tam itself probaly tommorow when i find a camera.
I also wouldnt mind seeing anf pics any one has of the smaller Tams that they have and wear if anyone has
Thanks in advance

Aye
I would say the XMarks Badge is a great idea, I wear one as well:
A Dandelion is also a good addition, having said that, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing your own Clansman Badge, some would say it's preferable.
Just one other word to the wise, soak the Tam, then shape on your head, let it dry overnight then kick it down the road for a bit. After all this it should be ready to wear.

Jamie,McMurdo i bow to your superior sence of style as i mentioned above i have just this evening sent Steve an email asking about Xmarks cap badges and Dandelions and i am egarly waiting his reply. I may also use my clan badge but i find it tends to flop around a bit as the pin is near the bottom, Also the Tam doesnt have a rosette to pin a badge through and ideas?
P.S McMurdo on your last point i am ahead of you its already shaped and drying overnight awaiting a good kicking

Jordan,
Yes , I can only say that these XMTS badges are of excellent quality.
You can easily bunch up (with style!) a piece of cloth between the badge and your tam. That should keep it from flopping around.
Best,

There isn't a requirement that a cockade is necessary.Just pin the crest badge on. That's the way the Duke of Argyll does it.
Can't say I like that tartan scrap...but maybe that's because it's a scrap of Campbell tartan!

I have been trying to get a X Marks Cap Badge also. I have sent at lease 5 e-mails asking about them however I have had no response from any of them. If anyone has an extra one they would like to sell please PM me.
