Wearing a pocket watch sans waistcoat
I have started wearing a pocket watch and chain for the first time. I've seen lots of pictures of them worn with a waistcoat, but I'd like some advice on how to wear it when wearing an Argyll jacket without a waistcoat. Can it be done? How do you do it?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Just put the watch in your left (outside) breast pocket and thread the chain T bar through the button hole in your left lapel.

I've seen a friend of mine wear a pocket watch in his breast pocket, with the watch chain and fob over the lapel, and the "T" bar through the buttonhole.

That's 3 for 3, so it's unanimous-- watch in left outside breast pocket, chain through the button hole in the lapel.
Guess we can close this thread now, huh?

Just to add a bonus, I concur with all that was said above. I am also wondering why I'm not that lucky.

Thank you for the advice, and all in agreement, no less! The heck of it is, though, that I've also just started wearing pocket squares (based on the good advice in this forum), so I guess it has to be one or the other in the left pocket.

The thread can't be closed until someone's posted a picture of someone wearing the watch in the manner described. That way the thread can veer wildly off-track in order to discuss the various pro's and con's of the non-watch portion of the outfit worn my the subject of the photo.
That being said, I would truly like to see a picture. I used to have a pocket watch and have been considering getting a new one.

You just drop the watch behind the pocket square, that's all.
