    Scots Tenor Robert Wilson

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbQJISHT4ZU
Here's a great clip from 1936 of Robert Wilson from Cambuslang. There's a family story of my grandad beating him singing in a talent contest in Lanarkshire in the late 1920's! He apparently also sang in the same choir (either the Shotts or the Motherwell Male Voice Choir), possibly with two of Grandad's brothers. Mr. Wilson looks particularly splendid here I think!

    Superb.

That video shows what proper vocal control actually means.

    Don't try this at home.

    A wonderful voice.

Seems like he is wearing a cummerbund in the Jeanie clip - interesting.

And in the other reference is made to him being with the Doyle Carte which means he must have done some wonderful Gilbert and Sullivan!

Some other interesting points, apparently he recorded the first ever vocal version of "Scotland The Brave" and had words put to it especially for him, also he wrote the standard "A Gordon For Me" (which incidentally was the first song that I ever sang on stage aged six, at Hogmanay 1980/81, kilted with tam!! )
