    Four Thistles Belt Buckles

You might have read with interest, as I did, the thread on mixing metals:http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/m...60/index3.html.

Turpin posted a picture of his wearing the Four Thistles buckle (3.5 inces diameter), sterling silver on brass, and I thought that you might be interested in close-up of his buckle:

In this photograph, Turpin's buckle is shown next to the pewter on brass buckle that I made for Joe Gondek:

There are several things that I like about mixed (married) metals: each metal shows off the other metal, and both metals compliment the colors of the tartan, any tartan, and the accessories that you wear. A good example of this is a picture that Matt Newsome recently posted:

See how the brass and pewter of Matt's Chi Rho echo the colors of the fabric and leather? If one could see shoes and bonnet, then one would see that the buckle works from top to bottom. You can't get that look with chrome!

I recently received one of Tyger's thistle buckles in brass and copper. It's beautiful. I need to take pictures and post them.

Your buckles are awesome! I love the look. I would love to see some without the brass color in them.

As a proud owner of one of Mark's buckles, let me chime in in favor of copper! It has a unique and impressive appearance of it's own:

I chose copper on copper but pewter or silver on the red metal would be awesome!

Thanks all. Brice, some of my favorite designs, brass on copper, 3.5 inches diameter:

    Chi Rho Alpha and Omega

    Bottony Cross

    Broad Cross

Notice the cone-head rivets? Only from Tyger Forge because I made them!

Mark- if you can post a picture please do! I forgot to photograph your buckle before I put in the box to mail to you. So, I don't have a picture to illustrate the warmth that shows of brass on copper Four Thistles. Many thanks in advance if you do post.

My bad! I was looking for some with NO brass at all in them. Not sure if you did something like that.

Of course. I can forge anything.

Copper on copper is a warm brown motif.

Among the white metals, we can combine sterling on sterling, pewter on sterling, and platinum/sterling either way.

I love the look of your buckles. What is the price range to have one made? I'm guessing the metals used makes a difference.
