Fly kilted all the time...no more comfy way to fly. You'll love it and so will the staff. Security is very used to kilted men. Not an issue. Just don't wear a long pin type kilt pin. Use one of the stubby pin kilt pins if you have one - or none at all.
And I take the stubby pin kilt pin off to go through security. Replace it on the plane.
I wear a travel vest instead of a sporran too. Just in case security considers the sporran a type of carry-on bag.
I agree. Wear the most comfortable kilt. Pack the other one. Same thing flying home.
