Bargain kilts

Last year I was lucky enough to find two 'ex hire' kilts on ebay and bought them very cheaply. One, a Royal Stewart heavyweight in Lochcarron Strome, from Lochcarron, I bought from America for $99 (about £76 at the rate at that time). This kilt is almost in a brand new condition and would have cost £371 if bought from Lochcarron today, and the other a medium weight in ancient Hume (my clan tartan) which cost me £75. I've just found a label on the apron edge of the Hume kilt indicating that it was originally made by Raymond of Doune, and on checking them out on Google have found that they make the kilts for Lochcarron. On examining the kilts I've found that both the straps and hanging loops are identical so this must be the case. As this company are regarded as one of Scotland's finest kiltmakers I can't believe that I've been so lucky to find these two kilts at such bargain prices.

Yes, I get this problem a lot. There are just too many letters in my name for computers to deal with !

Sorry Joe, when I first read your post I thought it said you hadn't seen the Hum tartan before (how my name is spelt in the end credit!)
I'm glad you like it. The 'Modern' colours are very dark, so not so good for dressy evening do's.

Actually I thought the film did a wonderful job of capturing the solitary nature of being a modern kilt wearer in today's society

I guess I was counting on more action- something along the lines of My Dinner with Andre, only without quite so much dialogue. He did get that part right- not too much dialogue.

Those are great looking kilts and certainly good buys.

I think the movie did an excellent job of speaking to the frustration and despaeration of life in the modern world. The older style heater next to the modern TV was priceless, and the depth of profundity requires no comment. Simply brilliant film noir.

The tail swishing was kind of cute, too.
