Post Don't you just love a bargain

for me this proves it pays to scour ebay for kilt related items
the shoes cost 35 quid from a ebayer in Inverness and the socks cost the grand total of 5 quid from a ebayer in England...... to buy these in a shop would cost 2-3 times that i reckon perhaps more again

Yeh - I love a bargain. That's why I always check eBay first. Good finds - you're a lucky man.

    Regards

    cheers
im unsure if the guy i bought the shoes off perhaps bought them from Pakistan or not and sold them for what he paid,
they have Geoffrey (talior) inside them on the leather but either way im happy with them and even though im 6ft ive a size 6(uk) feet so to find them in the condition they are in i feel very lucky they've never been worn as they had all the original tags on them

Nice! I'd love to find a pair of buckle brogues like that. I'm an American so I have no idea how much a quid is, but it sounds cheap!

    Hi Tobus,

    Check out eBay sale 200360179047.

I have a pair myself. Yes, they are made in Pakistan. Are they worth the money - Oh, yes. Can you wear them, all day, every day? No, they're not that kind of shoe. They are very dressy, for very dressy occasions. I wore my pair for 12 hours at the last Ferintosh Burns Supper without any problems.

    Regards

    Chas

well a quid is british slang for one british pound
which i believe in American slang is one buck and 53 cents

must admit im well impressed with the quality though
and i agree Chas that they are definitely for those dressy occasions for me it`ll be my weddings, funerals and the like footwear ,
the brown brogues i own and my hill walking boots will be used for other casual times
only bad thing about the hose is well they dont really go with my kilt..... but always a good excuse to get the chisholm weathered tartan to match the hose now

Geoffrey is a Pakistani gentleman who sells various things, among them buckle brogues. You paid his website price, so the ebayer might have been Mr. Geoffrey or someone working for him. I got a pair of them a month or so ago, and haven't had a chance to wear them yet.
Good find on those hose. May we see a shot of the back of them, to see how they're seamed?

Thanks for the tip. Sadly, they do not have them in my size (which is usually the case). I got a little excited when skauwt mentioned that he found them in the size he did, since usually I can't find anything smaller than a size 7 UK. But on the ebay listing you mentioned, they only have them in sizes 7 UK or larger. Ho hum, same old story...

Try contacting Mr. Geoffrey and ask if they could be made in your size. He's good about answering emails. This is the address on his website:

here is a couple of photos one of the back seam (forgive the sock on the diggerido)and one to show the diamond detail pattern on the cuffs they fit rather nice ....they do seem to have a left and right sock
its possible they work for Mr Geoffrey but the packing i received them in was the same as the seller had received them in i couldn't image them selling them for the same price as they paid but it possible they get in bulk and get a discount
