    DIY Edwardian goathair sporran

I got a wonderful Edwardian Celtic knotwork & dragon cantle a couple years ago on Ebay. It came attached to a modern horsehair pipe band style sporran by Janet Eagleton.

First I switched it to a vintage horsehair sporran:

But the trouble with both of these sporrans is that they don't hold anything!

Wanting a practical sporran for everyday use, I picked up a modern goathair sporran that has a nice Victorian look to it, but is a large opening pouch like modern sporrans. It had a somewhat ugly modern cantle in an antique bronze finish.

Today I switched my beloved Celtic Dragon cantle to the goathair sporran:

So I have the best of both worlds, a nice Edwardian/Victorian look but a very roomy and practical sporran for regular use.

Note that the cantle has loops for the chain strap to attach to, a feature often seen on old cantles.

The cantle is held in place by two nails.
