    Masters Worlds 2011: Victoria, B.C.

OK, I'm gonna try to make this one. I have to miss Denver this year, which is a drag but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I thought they were gonna be in Scotland, though. I'd even convinced Joan that going to Scotland in 2011 would be *Great*. She'd bought into the idea, which blew me away. All that talking about hiking and exploring worked it's magic on her. DANG.

While we might not be Scotland, we do have some incredible hiking, exploring and sight-seeing available around Vancouver Island. And just think how much shorter your flight will be!

Oh, Victoria has been on my short list of places to visit for a while. I had a short stop at Nanaimo a few years ago, but that's the only time I've been on the island. I'm sure that Joan will be keen to go, as well!

Haven't been to BC in a while. Ok, like 15 years! I was planning on it this year, but have sat on my behind instead of getting a passport. I know, Slacker! I need to do that. But it is a really amazing place! Not Scotland, but amazing none the less. Not to mention it is only a 4 hour drive and a ferry ride for me.

It would be great if you both came up, Alan. If you can get to Scotland with Joan, then take that trip, but if not, come to our island!
Also, the Worlds are happening here this year in a few weeks:

I'm sure that we can rally up a Kilt Night for you and Joan.
We already have quite a few of the rabble who will be coming into town for our Highland Games on the 22nd and 23rd of May.

Here is a link for anyone who wants more information.

I'll bet we can even find a spare room for you if that would help.

We have a dedicated guest room in our house in Victoria, BC, complete with decanter and whiskey glasses from Ferintosh Guest House in Dumfries!

    Woo-Hoo!

Steve, with the Worlds being in Victoria this year, the Masters kind of got well.... don't want to complain, but kind of got short shrift. Word from the AD was that he had to have all his Masters done by noon on Sunday. That meant we had to fit a minimum of 5, and probably 6 or 7 events in between 9:00 am and noon. Three hours. That's nuts. So I opted out, which is too bad. It'd be fun to see the Worlds.

2011 is now on the Calendar, however. That means Scotland in 2012..Oyy.

OK, I'm a bit confused with dates Alan,

Are you coming up to Victoria for the Highland Games next month?

I think Alan is planning on coming up for the Masters Worlds in 2011, Steve, not the Worlds at this year's games.
