    Fantastic tartan!!!!

    Hi All-
A customer brought some fabric that was purchased on ebay to have a box pleat kilt made. The minute i saw this fabric, I knew i had to get some!!! I just order 2.5 meters for myself from the source on ebay. There is 5 yards left of DW 16 OZ material. The picture doesn't do it justice. It is phenomenal!!
    Its called "Auld Scotland"

    Ebay #280489137404

PM the seller first to make a combined invoice, or you'll stack the shipping charge with every meter added. Its pricey, but for a BP kilt it was certainly worth it!!!

That's one of Lochcarron's new tartans, 16 oz Strome. I've had a swatch of it in the gift shop for quite a while now, and it's been hard to resist getting a kilt length for myself. :-)

If anyone misses the Ebay bid, you can always get more from any place that carries Lochcarron cloth.

    Allow me to rephrase...

I wish I had Ern's checkbook. Then I'd have a kilt made of this tartan.

    How's that, neighbor?

If my checkbook could help your need, I would send it to you!

    Too funny!!
I just emailed Matt about this tartan this morning to see if it was available, as Lochcarron doesn't show it on their site nor on its retailer's sites. I was going to have Matt send a swatch if it was available, but instead...I now have 4 yards double width coming to California!!

Thanks for the heads up Josh!!

    Good times :-) ,

    Brooke

The fabric arrived today, and it is amazing!!

Not that you need a co-signer Josh, but you are absolutely right the photos do not do this tartan justice! The online swatches don't even remotely include enough color palette, and although the large scale photos are better, they just don't capture it either.

For those of you with knowledge of the Drug treatment industry, this is kind of like the Methadone maintenance of the kilt world. Having the tartan on the dining room table is just enough to keep the Jones away, but not the same as having a completed kilt on!!

I have been toying with the idea of having the rest of my clan tartan kilts made (MacMillan Hunting Modern and MacMillan Hunting Weathered) before adding any fashion tartan kilts, but this tartan sure tests my resolve !!

    I'll keep you posted.

I'm very interested in this tartan also.

    Here's the photos I've seen:

What's puzzling is how different the colours appear in these two photos. The top photo shows "cooler" colours, the bottom photo "warmer" colours.

Which is more like the actual cloth, or is neither photo accurate in the colour rendering?

    Thanks!

I would say the top one is closer to accuracy given the colours in the background. Also that picture is taken by Lochcarron who weaves the tartan. Very nice tartan with a great history. We have access to this tartan if anyone needs it as I am sure do some of the other sponsors.
