    Fur for sporrans

    Hey all,

I found some fur hides and faces for those who are looking to add some fuzzy goodness to their sporran projects.

    Hides and faces.

Thanks for the link. I think this is a good idea- links to good resources.

I'm looking at THESE right now. This vendor seems pretty reasonably priced and forthright about any defects the hides may have. I will say that I haven't used them yet, so cannot vouch personally for them, but I will be ordering soon (either the red fox in the link or a great huge raccoon).

I bought a beautiful kangaroo hide with full tail at a flea market last spring, but can't bring myself to seperate the tail from it to make a sporran.

I bought a fox pelt from a very similar vendor on eBay several months ago. It is fantastic. It only has one little spot where there in no fur on the underside. Problem is, my cat has adopted it and thinks it is her baby...
She sleeps with it, cleans it, rolls all over it, etc.... If I can ever get it away from her, I am sure it would make a very nice sporran.

...Well...the pictures I've seen here of mink sporrans all use the tail as a tassel...so...I suppose you could just hang the kangaroo tail off the front of the sporran...

It really is rather cool, the tail is about 2 feet long so that might look a little wierd hanging down the front off a sporran....
Maybe a vest with the tail going down your back....
