New poster, new kilt & sporran
Hi everyone:
Have been reading the posts and lurking here for some time and figured I'd share with you my latest work (pix below).

Just made up my very first kilt and (nearly) finished the first sporran last night. Still need to wrap the tassles and finish blacking the cut edges. After viewing your beautiful DIY sporran projects, I'm quite humbled.
Do bear in mind it's my first attempt at leather work in some 30 years.
Best to all,
Doug

Thanks.
No. The kilt pin was made for me a couple years ago, by a good friend - it's a silver replica of a 16 century fibulae (clasp). I finally have something to wear it on. I'm making the next kilt up for him.

Darn fine job and a Darn nice BIG sporran. Love those sporrans that you could carry a couple of days provisions in. Congrats on some nice work.
Best

I wish I had the ability to make kilts. I'd have more than Hamish by now. That one is a beaut and I love the Black Watch tartan. I like the sporran too. Any chance of a peek inside and how does it close? Thanks for sharing them with us all.

NICE Work! If you can tailor coats and knit hose, you could start producing whole kilt packages

Thank you. I actually do knit kilt hose, too. Here's a pair made for my silversmith friend, who's also a piper.

I have yet to tailor coats/jackets, but I do make a mean shirt.... and will be attempting an Argyll tweed jacket soon. Will post a pic when I do.
Thanks for all your inspirational work... it is all so beautifully made.
Best,
Doug

Nice on both "fronts" (sporran and kilt). But, i noticed no belt loops. Just thinking of another thread. Are they there but not seeing them or are they not "included"?
