New Balmoral bonnet is here!
so I have to apologize at first for no pictures right away, I have taken pictures but come to find my cord for my camera has been misplaced so they are stuck offline until I find it,
However after receiving email confirmation from Chris at Dunadd Trading Company on June 16th that he had inspected my bonnet and it would be mailed that day, I assumed 2-3 weeks, Chris had already assured me it would come in 14 days, however I expected customs, or my local post to have a delay, so I was expecting it mid to late next week - however to my surprise I found it in my mailbox yesterday!
First off, Thank you Chris!
As far as a reveiw, I'm afraid I can't add much that hasn't said, It seems to be very durable and sturdy and well, I can understand how Jock (and others) can put these through so much punishment without them getting destroyed!
Now the only thing I will say is the lovat blue is more of a grey hue than I thought, but this is because I only own one other garment bearing the same colour, which is a pair of lovat blue kilt hose from B&S made from lochcarron which seems to have used a brighter blue die - However this is not a problem, just something I noticed - and to be honest the colour of the bonnet match's the colour on the website pretty much exactly
Pictures to follow later today if I can find my camera cord
Iain

We all assume that you are planning to give your new bonnet a good "jocking" before wearing it out in public.
Before and after shots are always in order.
I do look forward to the pix.

Iain, that’s a very fine bonnet as it is, and it hangs over on the right-hand just perfectly.
I reckon that if you “jock” it, it will look like an overstretched military beret that just hangs limply.
But it’s yours – you paid for it, you do whatever you like to it!
Regards,
Mike

Your bonnet looks wonderful! All I wear are Robert Mackie bonnets and they are simply the best! I think yours looks great the way it is mate, I love that look anyhow. My most recent Balmoral purchase was from Chris at Dunadd as well, a Fawn Balmoral with Lovat Green dicing (see photo), and I decided to leave it alone-no "Jocking" and it looks great in my opinion. I think that I will allow time and normal wear and tear to gradually "Jock" it naturally. My next bonnet purchase will be the same as yours, then after that, a Lovat Green with dicing and another Fawn with Lovat Blue dicing. Well done mate!

Slainte mhath,
I just ordered a "Jock Scot Special" as well, Kyle! Like you, I will most likely let nature take its' course on the bonnet.

I know the current XMarks trend is to "Jock" a new bonnet, but I'm with Kyle & Todd on this. I always allow time, wear, & Washington's "soft weather" to do the job for me

Awesome Todd, congrats and well done my friend! I can't wait until we can get together over a wee dram! Looking forward to that day, as well as hopefully seeing a photo or two of you in your new bonnet!
Yours aye,
