Hi, Y'all!
I am currently making an X-kilt - sewing it by hand, and have a question regarding tapering the fell... In the instructions, it is assumed that your hips are larger that your waist... however, despite the fact that I am of Irish/Scot/Welsh (among others) extraction, I seem to suffer from that rare Hawaiian disease called "noarseatall"... my measurements (triple checked) are: Waist (at navel): 48" (Comfortable) or 46" (sucked in); Hips: 45"; Fell: 5"; and Drop: 20" Height: 5'10".
If I follow the directions exactly, I believe this will end up with a REVERSE taper...
I intend to do 13 pleats and a 9" (A-shaped to 12" at base) over-apron,to a total of 48" to fit my waist...this will result in a straight taper all the way down...
Any suggestions (other than losing weight)?
Thanks.
