Belt loops on a Montrose Doublet?
Today I received my new Montrose Doublet in the post, and it's great, but having never owned one before, I assumed they had a belt loop at either side, which this does not. Is this unusual? Also, it does have the metal hooks at the back, but no elastic. Would a hair band suffice? Thanks.

I have seen them all ways- loops, metal hooks, all, none. Much depends on the way it fits and the way your belt does. You ought to be able to rig some kind of belt retaining device if you need one. I find a tight belt tends to stay put on its own, but you may need to tuck and tug now and then if you are dancing- or add loops.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife

Looks da' bomb! Belt loops sound like a good idea. Another alternative is to sew in metal belt hooks, as is done in military tunics/jackets. You can find them at What Price Glory here: http://www.onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=98&bc=no
Just a thought...
