Diced Hose with Contrasting Garters?
I have (yet another) question, this time related to diced hose.
In my perusal of kilt-related photos, I have seen quite a few people wearing diced hose with garter flashes or ties that match a colour in the hose and have yet to see somebody wearing diced hose with a contrasting coloured garter.
Is there some unwritten rule that one's garters must match one of the colours in diced hose?
Thank you!

I don't know of any rule, but I'd caution the wearer to be conscious of his color choices and how they mix. For example, red and white diced hose worn with green garters would look awfully Christmassy, and the some hose worn with blue garters would look very flag-like, for both the Stars and Stripes and the Union Jack. Some wearers might want that kind of "theme" look, and if done with some forethought, it could be very impressive. Heraldic colors could be mixed in this fashion, and those who look for such things would have a nice topic of converstion when they spotted someone so accoutered.

When given a choice, most people will choose.

I think tartan flashes with diced hose may be a bit much for me.

Thank you for your responses! Being the frugal chap that I am, I've been searching for the kit I want, at the quality I want, and for a good price. I've found a decent deal on diced hose and am considering getting them, but I wanted to see if wearing them with the garter ties I'll be ordering shortly would be a faux pas. (Why order two sets of garters when one will work for all occasions?) In this case it would be black and red diced hose with yellow garters.
Thanks again, to everyone, for your well-informed answers!

No rule at all.
I wear different coloured flashes with diced hose quite frequently:

Ya know... I never thought about taking pictures of my hose... I do like to mix hot and cool colors, though- purple hose with red garters is one of my favorites. I want to get a pair of yellow garters to wear with my red hose one of these days. I see no reason not to wear contrasting colors. I really like it myself.
