    Kilt v. Trews (British Pathé)

Here's a video on the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers with the Highland Light Infantry:

    http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=34996

Not news, but I thought y'all might get a kick out of it. Also, just to let people know about the British Pathé website, which contains newsreels from 1896 to 1976.

An excellent find, Morris! Many thanks for sharing.

By the way, Major General R.E. Urquhart commanded the British 1st Airborne Division during Operation Market Garden. He was portrayed by Sean Connery in the film, "A Bridge Too Far", and uttered one of the best lines in movie history:

"Everyone knows that God is a Scotsman."

Urquhart served with David Niven in the HLI. Niven's service with the HLI is a story in itself...

Utterly delightful. Thank you so much for cheering up my day. Thank you as well for the link to the website. I imagine more "gems" are out there waiting to be brought back to light. Good work.

Really, Really outstanding. Best thing I've seen in a long time. Thank you.

    Mad Mitch & the Argylls...

Here's a great clip from the 1960s featuring Colonel Colin Campbell "Mad Mitch" Mitchell of the Argylls -- note the "Crucified Moose" badge on their glengarries:
