Magazine article. woohoo
I guess the editor of the Stanford Magazine, a 6x/year publication about Stanford University events and people, spotted the article about me in the local newspaper. A couple of East Bay papers ran an article about another local Master, Kel Mulrey, and the San Jose and San Mateo papers had an article about me.
I was under the impression that they were supposed to be about the Pleasanton Highland Games, with "me" as an interest point, but that's not how they came out.
You can see that article here:

Anyway, this morning I had a long interview and photo shoot for the November/December issue of the Magazine. It was fun, the reporter was very nice and seemed genuinely interested. I'll post a link to the magazine article when and if I get one...

Good to see the media taking an interest, Alan, and you are a fine ambassador for the kilt and the heavy games. Congratulations

VERY nice coverage, congratulations.
Hopefully you weren't wearing white hose for the pix (JOKING-please don't throw something at me![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif) )
Seriously, great article. We've got more and more famous people on the "X" all the time.

I would hardly call me "famous". This is another one of those Andy Warhol fifteen minutes, eh? Still and all, kind of fun. I'm well aware that what I do, here, is throw rocks and sticks.

Must be quite gratifying to be known as "one of the biggest movers and shakers in the throwing community" ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Seriously Alan, congratulations. I'm looking forward to the year you compete in one or both of my homelands.

Great article Alan.
"in North America he currently ranks 11th overall in his age category"
Wow! That's amazing!

HA, that's hilarious from both the gross over-exaggeration that Bethany said, and the none-too-subtle pun.

I would sure like to finish the year in the top ten. To do that, I need to seriously "up" my sheaf numbers. I have two Games in which to do that, Santa Cruz and Ventura.
I've been dealing with two bum knees, most especially my right knee. However, they are finally healing up, and I will be focusing my efforts on practicing sheaf the next few weeks.
I would also very much like to go over 50 feet again in the light weight, and I think I would have the party of all parties if I managed to crack 90 feet in the light hammer. I'm close in the hammer...close. I pretty regularly throw over 85 feet in practice. I've thrown 54+ with the light weight in practice, as well...just not the last 3-4 weeks. But those numbers ARE in the tank.
We shall see.
