    Bonnet Question

Having worn the kilt for several years, I am now trying different head gear. I have a Glengarry and two Beret Tam's. My question is that neither of my Tam's came with cockade so I am wondering how to keep the crest badge up and looking well.

Currently I am just pulling the Tam tight and hoping for the best. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty new to the tam arena--but, those seem a bit floppy to put a heavy crest on. I guess you could put some sort of cardboard backing behind the crest...but, that might ruin the whole floppy look of the tam. Of course, none of what I have said is true for the military tams.

I made a balmoral style bonnet recently, using some polyester ribbon (available locally) backed by scraps of hair canvas from a kilt project. Any substantial fabric could be used as a backing.
