    Does PV shrink ?

    Hey all,

I've bought some PV kilts and I was wondering if they shrink a little when washed. The reason I ask is because I need to hem them down to my size, from 24'' to 22.5''. Should I wash them a few times before I hem them or am I safe?

    Thanks

PV is synthetic, and I don't believe synthetic fibres in general are subject to shrinkage via washing. In any case, my PV is still the same size after a round in the wash.

I have two kilts in my shop made from the exact same bolt of fabric that I use for samples of the quality of the Marton Mills P/V fabric. One is brand new, never been worn. The other has been through the washer and dryer 27 times and through the dry cleaner 3 times.
If you hold one against the other, and don't notice the wear to the straps from the many times the used kilt has been rented, you cannot tell the difference between the two.
The rental kilt has never been touched by an iron since it was made and the pleat creases are as sharp and crisp as the day it was made.
I just measured the Sett size between the two and the difference is less than one yarn width.

Does P/V shrink? Not from the example of these two kilts.
