If you've been to the Potomac Festival, the Chesapeake Celtic Festival, the Welsh Festival or the <Insert Nationality and/or Body of Water> Festival , you've probably heard Iona -- The Premier Celtic Band in the Greater Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area Composed of the Kilted Wonders Friends. They'll be playing energetic Celtic music and they'll be accompanied by an Irish Dancer (one who does Irish dance, not one imported from Eire). I'm a big fan, but as I noted, they're friends of mine so I'm a bit biased. Still they DID open for Solas a few years back at the Virginia Irish Festival so they're no hacks.

They'll be playing on Sunday, Nov. 7th at the Old Brogue in Great Falls -- at 5:00 and once again at 7:00. It costs $15 and you need to make reservations (703-759-3309) with the Old Brogue.

More info on the concert here:

If you want to have a listen to their sound, snippets of their 2006 album can be found here: http://www.ionamusic.com/iona20note.html

If anyone can attest to the quality of the other bands that'll be performing in the fall concert series, please do so. Aside from Mock Pryderi (great people too!) I don't know the other groups, but I assume they're pretty good as well.
