Beer Release
Hey all, anyone in the midsate area on December 16th, stop by Appalachian Brew Company to try my beer. The head brewer sponsored a contest for my brew club and I won, so I got to brew my beer in the brewery. It will be released on the 16th and is called Highland Amber. I'll be at the Camp Hill location; come on by for some scottish inspired beer. I am really stoked about this.

That's terrific; what a boost! Who knows but perhaps I'll be able to sample some before the year is out! Glad to meet you and yours yesterday; nice of you to come so far.

Congrats! That's awesome. Can you tell us more about the brew and maybe even pass along the recipe? I'm anxiously waiting to bottle up my wee heavy for the holiday season.

The beer is an amber. ABC made a base wort for the club and we were given it and told to come back with our version. I added honey, smoked malt and some other specialty grains (I'll have to dig out the recipe, but its got a lot of different malts). Hops are Millenium, Styrian Goldings and Cascade. ABC changed the recipe slightly, but I still think it works.

That's wonderful! Wish I could be there. I always visit ABC when near Harrisburg for great food and drink.

That sounds great. I have had the Appalachian Brewing Company's Scottish Ale. The local Wegman's store sells it by the six back. Will your Highland Amber be distributes with their other beers or do I have to travel to the brewery to sample?

Congrats Verlyn! I don't think we'll be able to make it for the tapping, but I'm very happy for you on your win!

What time are you going to be at the ABC on the 16th?
We have never been to the ABC in Camp Hill, just Harrisburg, but I am guessing your recipe will only be available in Camp Hill so maybe we can make it over there while it is on tap. Maybe it will do so well that they will make it a regular selection.
One of the ABC locations would probably be a good location for a Central Pennsylvania kilt night. Maybe you can talk to the management while you are there?
Congrats on the win!
