As father of two Eagle, I know what it takes to get there. Please congratulate your son from me, and the parents also.

Verra nice. As a fellow Eagle, I welcome him to the brotherhood. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.

In answer to longhuntr74, it is my understanding (I am a registered Assistant Scoutmaster) that only Scouts earning a rank in 2010 will be able to wear the special 2010 Centennial badges (this goes for any rank earned this year - Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life or Eagle). As far as I know, if a Scout doesn't pass his Board of Review before 12/31, he doesn't get a 2010 rank badge. Other Centennial memorabilia may be worn beyond the end of the year, including the rank badges (until the Scout's next rank advancement), but they cannot be earned after the end of the year. This may change depending on how many badges Supply has left over (it may be extended until they run out).

Of course, once a young man transitions to adult membership (over 18, or 21 in the case of Venturers), any rank badges on the uniform go away. For adult Eagle Scouts, the award is represented by a special square knot worn above the left shirt pocket. (Adults may wear the medal for Courts of Honor - award ceremonies - or other formal occasions, where appropriate. I've also seen it worn on the lapel of a suit when in civilian attire, again for those special occasions previously noted.)

P/M me if you want to know more/discuss further.

Again, congrats to Jimbo's son (and to Jimbo for his support).
