    First Box Pleat DIY

Just finished my first 4 yard box pleated kilt. Thanks to BarbT and Matt for their supplimental instructions to The Art of Kiltmaking.

I found the material at a clearance/discount fabric store here in Dallas. I had to piece three pieces together to get the pattern to flow in the direction I wanted.

    A few pics below.

Just after all the basting stitches were removed:

Finished shot. It's quite a warm kilt, even at 4 yards. Perfect for this windy cold day in Texas.

I like that tweed and the kilt turned out rather well.

How much sewing experience do you have?

Little experience. This was the second kilt I ever made. First one was made earlier this year. It was a 8 yard knife pleat using TAOK book. Before that, I only knew how to make simple repairs and re-sew a button or two.

D@MN that is sharp! Congratulations on the awesome work.

I wish I could make fabric behave for me like leather does...

Fabric is always shifting around, stretching and going all wonky.

Very nice! It looks pretty sharp!

That looks great! Well done. I'm panning a tweed box pleat next myself.

I like it! Never would have thought that a tweed kilt, box-pleated, would look that great. And it goes especially well with your sweater. The overall look is fantastic!
