Overall, it looks good, in a middle-of-the-road manner. It is certainly within the norm of today's kilt-hire wedding outfit. Is the fly plaid just for the groom, or are all of the groomsmen wearing them too?
If it were me, I'd lose the ghillie brogues and just go with a simple black dress shoe or standard brogue. Add some flashes or traditional garter ties to the hose, and maybe a slightly fancier sporran for the groom. A pocket watch would look grand too. Just thinking out loud...

Overall, very nice. I agree that hose flashes would be a good idea and while I do not prefer ghillie brogues it's really a matter of your personal taste. A different sporran for the groom and a fly plaid for the groom only is a good way to visually stand out from the groomsmen. As I said, overall, quite sharp! Enjoy the wedding, congratulations, and God bless!

Plaid is only for the groom, and he just forgot the flashes for the pics--lol. Great points though, I will definately consider the watch, perhaps I can borrow one from someone. As far as the sporran, the wife-to-be wants everything to match...so eh..lol And she wanted a black sporran, and the rental shop doesnt have an upgradable black sporran...so out of luck.
I really dig the shop though and the guy who helped us was very nice and spent like two hours helping us while we were looking at everything.
We are renting through kiltrentalusa.com
I am super pumped. I have been in a lot of weddies and this was about 1000% more comfortible than any tux I have ever worn.

I'm not a big fan of that type of tie. Its noticable even in that picture that it is a clip on. If that is the tie to be worn, then I would use a laydown collared shirt, not the wing tip. If you change to a bow tie, then see if they can pair you up with a 3 button vest, like with a PC, but keep the same style jacket. The hose look like navy blue. At least they are not white. But I think a little more color could be used down there. If you can spring for some better hose, something in one of the red tones would really set you off. If not then add some red flashes with those. I'm ok with the plaid. But I would only wear it for the ceremony. If you are having a sit down reception, I would take it off. It'll just get in the way. But have it handy for the official photos.

Great advice...and it's funny, the colored hose were my fiance's choice, I was actually wanting to go white lol I will see what I can do for more color in the southern region, I think they were gonna use the tartan flashes...but don't quote me on that. It's hard with the rental because it really limits what you can put together. And I am totally with you on the plaid.

There's no rule saying that you have to wear all their gear. If you're renting the kilt, jacket, waistcoat, tie, sporran, and other pieces, you're covered on the big stuff. If you don't like their choices of hose or flashes, it's not that much to buy these on your own and wear them with the rest of the rental items.
Personally, I think diced hose would be awesome. But even if you stick with the rental hose shown, you could still spend $25 to buy your own garter ties in whatever color you choose... not just what they're offering.

Good suggestions thus far, for the most part.
My own thoughts?
1. Skip the fly plaid.
2. Wear a "normal" four-in-hand necktie, with a turn-down collar shirt.
3. Get some hose in a claret ( or brighter ) red.
4. Do not wear tartan flashes. Blah.
5. Make sure that the length of the sleeves of the shirt is such that about 1/2" of cuff is showing.
Have a grand time!

Good catch. In this case, the jacket sleeves actually look like they're about the right length, and the shirt sleeves are too short. Usually it's the other way around, with the jacket sleeves being too long and the shirt sleeves being about right.

Yea, the shirt sleeves were to short and he made note of it. Gosh you guys are good! Have any of you thought about starting a kilt fashion show on television? lol This thread just reminds me of those people who go on the tele and have the hosts totally change all the stuff around and they come out looking totally different, but better (usually mind you, haha).
