    Boer war pipers in hort clip

    Came across this youtube clip of the program Battle line of the last surviving soldier from the last Boer war. the kilted pipers are only in frame for about three seconds but for turn of the century the one before the last not bad.

    One of the benefits of youtube is the associated clips. There was an associated clip posted that also had some great era marching shots of the kilt.

    Great clip! He is a national treasure. The Boer War was a very tragic event and unfortunately the lessons learned from it where never applied in WWI. Some very brave Scot advances met disaster when they encountered entrenched Boers, and then years later the Germans. Flowers of the Forest.

    Thanks to Slowburn and Terry for posting these. I'm known for thinking about oddball things, but it never crossed my mind there might be footage from that war. I spent the night not far from Isandlwana; beautiful country.
