Tartan Ribbon
Not sure where to put this, so, mods, please move it if there is a more appropriate place. I will say I put it here because I believe it will be seen by more members than if I posted it in "off topic"
Anyhow, My soon to be daughter-in-law is looking for some ribbons in Clan Maclachlan, and in the Macneil tartans. The Macneil, would preferibly be in the ancient colors to match my son's and my kilts. So far, the only Maclachlan she has found is so expensive that she is considering cutting up a scarf for which she paid over $20 to get a short piece of the tartan. If anyone knows of a reasonably priced source, please post it here.

Try the STM. They have several different ribbons, in several different color palettes.

I had a bear of a time trying to find Black Stewart Tartan ribbon for my wedding. If you have enough time, maybe you could buy a yard or two of lighter weight tartan to use to make the ribbon.

There's an online place that you can probably find with some searching that carries the widest range of tartan ribbon I've seen.
I can't remember it, something obvious like The Tartan Ribbon Store or summat. They sell on Ebay too, or they did a year ago anyhow.
The company that makes all the tartan ribbon has a fairly wide range of tartans but you might end up having to use a tartan that's close rather than the exact tartan. For the exact tartan you might have to have the ribbon sewn up out of tartan cloth, much more expensive.

Common request. Unfortunately they do not make many tartans in Ribbon. What we suggest then is what you noted is just buying x amount of yardage of the cloth then cut it into strips.
We carry the tartans you are looking for and so do a number of the sponsors of the forums contact any of us and we would be happy to help.
