    Tartan Cargo kilts?

I've been looking around at the contemporary cargo type kilts but I'd much prefer a tartan rather than solid or camo colour scheme.
It would be purely for casual day wear, I do a lot of running (ultras & hill races) and think it would be cool for hanging out in after races. So far all I can find is the Sport kilt Ultimate (which I like the look of as I now run in one of their hiking kilts) or the Bilt kilt premium hybrid,
    any other ideas?
    Cheers

Can you tell me a little more about your requirements for your Tartan Cargo Kilt.
What type of pleats would you like? Knife or Box.
How much are you concerned about the amount of fabric in the kilt?
Do you want Pockets in your kilt? How many and where?
Do you want Wool or synthetic fabric?
Do you need a particular Tartan? Which one?
How would you like your kilt to fasten? Straps, Buttons, Snaps, Velcro?

As I am a custom kilt maker anything is possible. Just describe what you want, need, and like.

Here are the original, and first, running kilts made for the Hash House Harriers. The Tartans are the official HHH Hunting and Trail Tartans from the original run of fabric.

2 1/2" Box Pleats, Velcro closure, two hidden pockets for wallet and money.

Hi Steve, thanks for getting back to me. To be honest I think you might be a bit over the price I was looking to pay for a rough & tumble kilt that will at best be used for rolling around the pub in and wearing out in the hills. however the sort of thing I'd be looking for would be synthetic with probably knife pleats (only because I'm more used to them) and a large cargo style pocket on each side. I prefer leather strap closures and I wouldnt be too fussed about the amount of material used, I hadn't decided on a tartan yet as I was just looking to see what was available.

But now you've got me thinking as I've a wedding in the autumn and I had been thinking of a new kilt with a modern contemporary style of jacket/waistcoat. I was thinking about a grey tartan something like highland granite or grey spirit, I think I'll need to check into the finances and give this some more thought, what kind of time frame would we be talking about for a custom kilt??
    cheers and thanks again.

    Rab,

Perhaps your follow on questions would better be asked off forum. Would you please send me an email.

Rab, don't forget that there are many of us kiltmakers in Britain that would be more than happy to help as well! :-)

    thanks again folks
