Looking beyond the big Jules Verne anniversary thing on the Google homepage today, I was surprised to read that his mother was of Scottish ancestry. Well I should have known from the sheer talent of the man when combined with his industry, but I'd never heard of it before. So why were so many of his heros English or American then? Did he ever have a Scots hero I have likewise never heard of?
